Well, it looks like the work from home lifestyle is set to continue for the foreseeable. We’re all fed up and annoyed but at least we can stay healthy and look cute while doing it! I’ve been meaning to do a post like this since lockdown began but for some reason kept putting it off? Anyway, now we’re here because I learned how to self-discipline. The intro is short and sweet for once, let’s get into it!
* Feel free to shop the post at the bottom of this page! As I shop sustainably a lot of the exact items are no longer available but I have linked similar items.
Monday: Maximum Comfort
Undoubtedly the worst day of the week; Monday calls for cosiness in extreme doses. After a weekend of sunshine and highs of around 23 degrees, Monday hits harder. This Monday in particular, the temperature has dropped down to a high of 9 degrees. So, not only is it the start of the working week but to add insult to injury, the sun has gone home as well and it’s cold!
I can’t be arsed making any real effort today, I just want to feel warm and cosy. My Sunday evening shower has washed the curls out of my hair. I can’t be bothered putting any makeup on, or even putting my contact lenses in, which leaves us with this look.
Despite me putting the absolute bare minimum effort into my outfit, it looks kinda put together, if I do say so myself. Joggers can look kind of dressy if you try! I find that rolling up the ankles and tucking in my t-shirt does the absolute most. Neutral tones also make any outfit look that extra bit classier. Catch me at my desk (the kitchen table) with a hot chocolate and a tabby cat on my knee.
Tuesday: Dress For Your Day
Monday had been an incredibly busy day at work which I knew was set to continue into the next day. I really wasn’t feeling it so decided to dress in a way to trick myself into enthusiasm. In the morning, I woke up a little earlier to put minimal makeup on to further boost my work ethic. I picked out this cute plaid pinafore and wore it over the top of a long-sleeved white turtleneck. As it was also a little bit cold outside, I wore the same cream cardigan I had been wearing the day before.
Dressing for your day has a powerful psychological effect on you, and can really change your mindset. It’s like wearing your favourite workout gear to motivate you to exercise, or putting on your favourite party dress to boost your confidence when you’re going out. If you’ve never heard of this, I highly recommend trying it sometime!
Wednesday: Cold Casual
On this day, in particular, I was happy to work from home because it was abnormally cold for May. I pulled out my blue ripped-knee mom jeans and a long-sleeved top I bought from a gig I went to in February. It’s a pretty basic outfit but is both comfortable and warm. You may be thinking ‘Jeans!? Comfortable!?’ and I will tell you YES because mom jeans are pretty loose fit as a general rule, and the ripped knees especially add more freedom of movement. There are definitely cosier, warmer outfits I could have picked out but… I already wore my joggers on Monday and I knew I would be writing a blog post about this. Sorry!
Thursday: Optimistic Summery Outfit
The temperate rose by a few degrees compared to Wednesday so the summer clothes were immediately pulled out. It was still less than 15 degrees outside so I picked out these flowy yellow trousers and a long-sleeved billowy shirt. The shirt is actually one of those that you’re meant to tie at the bottom but since it wasn’t that warm, I tucked in! After owning this shirt for a couple of months now, I feel like I can definitively say that it’s so versatile. I can pair it with so many outfits and it always looks good (if I do say so myself!). If you’re looking for a top you can really mix and match with that’s not completely basic, this shirt is your guy.
Friday: Early Weekend Wishing
A positive of work from home life is that you can wear literally anything you want to! There are none of the usual ‘uniform rules’ in place. Although my work has very few uniform rules, I would definitely not be allowed to wear a crop top in the office.
I decided to wear a crop top on this day because I associate clothing like this with the weekend! This week had been particularly taxing, especially at the beginning, and I really felt those ~ weekend vibes ~ that you normally feel in the office. So, I took advantage of my freedom, grabbed my white crop top, and paired it with these pretty Burberry print pants.
The pants can look a little frumpy on their own so I added a decorative belt to bring in the waist. Also, the pants came with a matching scrunchie so I wore that in my hair too! I feel like if this outfit was allowed in the office, it would be a great option to wear when also going for after-work drinks (remember when that was a thing we could do? ☹️)
What’s Your Favourite Work From Home Outfit?
From the above, I think my favourite work from home outfit is my Tuesday outfit. It is more dressy than the others, but I think that’s what I like about it! It makes my days feel a little more normal when they really haven’t been, and reminds me of going into the office which I have been missing. In my opinion, it’s the cutest and probably the most feminine. I really have been loving neutral tones recently.
What have you been wearing in your home office? Are you a full effort or zero effort type of person? Which outfit from my week was your favourite? Let’s chat in the comments!
