International Women’s Day is so important to me as a woman and feminist. Women have been taking gigantic steps since the beginning of the 19th century, right up to the present day to ensure women have equal opportunities and complete bodily autonomy. This International Women’s Day, I wanted to interview 3 businesswomen and find out how they feel navigating the business world as a woman.
My first interview is with Ellie; founder of Styling Social and social media genius! I have only been speaking to Ellie for a few weeks now, but she is one of the most supportive, positive, upbeat people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to! Make sure you read her interview and follow her on her social media pages for inspiring content that will make you believe you can achieve anything!

Tell me about your business. Why did you start it?
Hiya girl! Thank you so much for having me on your blog. I’m Ellie the founder of Styling Social. I work with ambitious influencers and female entrepreneurs that are struggling to elevate their social media presence, grow their audience and ultimately have a successful business. I offer 1:1 Instagram coaching calls for my client’s and also run The Influencer Membership.
The Influencer Membership was launched in February 2020 and is all about showcasing the beauty of women working together. We work as an exclusive community to teach our members all about growing a personal brand as well as equipping them with the resources to do so. From weekly training videos to digital resources.
I started Styling Social because I’ve always had a huge passion for social media growth as well as helping others. From a very young age, I would always experiment with different platforms. When I was 11 I had my own YouTube channel where I would create music videos with my cousin! Ever since then I’ve just been fascinated by the power of different platforms.
What are the pros and cons of being a woman in business?
Ooo, great question! I think one of the main pros is definitely the fact you get to collaborate with so many other amazing women. Collaboration over community always! It’s amazing being able to build each other and empower others at the same time. I’m also a strong believer in the fact that women make AMAZING leaders so that’s definitely another pro of being a female entrepreneur.
The only con I can really think of is the stereotyping that comes with being a woman in business but thankfully this is becoming less and less common.
Do you ever feel disadvantaged as a woman in business?
Personally, I can’t pinpoint an exact time where I’ve felt disadvantaged as a woman in business but I have a lot of close friends who are also female entrepreneurs and we’ve discussed this topic previously. I feel as if it’s definitely still happening which is ridiculous – it’s 2020 people! Women are powerful and we can all achieve great things. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
What advice would you give to other women who are wanting to start their own businesses?
Love this question! If you’re reading this and you’re debating starting a business then you have to just bite the bullet and go for it. Growing up I always loved the idea of being my own boss and with both my parents being self-employed it just inspired me even more.
Let me be the person to tell you that you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. Just six months ago, I was working night shifts in a retail store feeling like I had completely hit a dead end. Fast forward today I am the owner of a successful business and I truly wake up every single morning feeling fulfilled. I get to do what I LOVE every single day and there’s nothing better than seeing your client’s succeed and hit their goals.
If you have a passion you want to monetise you honestly have to just go for it! You have one life! Whatever it is holding you back you have to get over that. Whether it’s fear of judgment, fear of failure or imposter syndrome. Leave it at the door and take action. I challenge you to set up the Instagram page for your business today! Go do it!
Promote your favourite product!
I’m actually currently working on a really exciting NEW product launch for my shop which will be available towards the end of March – so keep an eye out for that! But my all-time favourite would have to be The Influencer Membership.
The Influencer Membership is a monthly paid membership that contains weekly training videos, digital resources from eBooks to checklists and access to an exclusive Facebook group. All of the current members are absolutely flourishing. It’s truly amazing to see.
You can find out more information by clicking here.
Additionally, you can join the waiting list by clicking here.
The doors are currently shut for enrollment and will be opening again in the future to let more member’s inside. (Sooner than you think). But you have to be on the waiting list if you want any chance of securing a place!
Thank you so much for having me!
Stay tuned for more International Women’s Day interviews coming up later this week!
I just want to close this by saying a HUGE thank you to Ellie for participating and answering all my interview questions so thoroughly and positively. Reading her answers made me feel so inspired and ready to tackle anything! I hope everyone else reading this post feels the same way.
Happy International Women’s Day, everyone! Maybe someday soon, every day will be women’s day. ☺
The next interview post will be up THIS WEDNESDAY! The 11th of March. I aim to post this at 5pm as I would on a Sunday, so please keep your eyes peeled for that!
